As you journey through a history of time, to an era of luxury and extravagance, immerse yourself in the opulent surroundings of the Royal Houses of Jaipur, Deogarh, Udaipur and Jodhpur, whilst marveling at the colonial jewels of Delhi. Experience the times of the past, as you sample delightful delicacies produced in Royal kitchens, before wondering through the vibrant Bazaars which were once home to the craftsmen, who produced beautiful and delicate jewels for Kings and Queens. Enjoy a thrill seeking elephant safari in Jaipur, as you criss cross the ancient streets in the old cities, and experience the life of Indian royalty.
Day 1: Arrive Delhi
You will arrive in Delhi Airport where you will be greeted by one of our representatives and escorted to your hotel.
Day 2: Delhi
You’ll enjoy a hearty breakfast this morning after which you’ll have the morning to explore the amazing variety that Delhi offers. You’ll experience both Old Delhi and New Delhi, discovering the surprising contrasts of this eclectic city. As you walk through the hectic alleys of Chandni Chowk, you’ll also explore some of the oldest and most historic sites of this ancient part of the city. Later, in New Delhi, you’ll take a panoramic tour that passes by the India Gate and the Rashtrapati Bhawan, a complex of government buildings that includes the president’s home. You’ll end your tour by visiting two landmarks that were built to recognize the strength of Islam and the beginning of Muslim rule in India: the splendid Humayun Tomb and Qutb Minar (Tower of Victory),both of which are excellent examples of traditional Afghan architecture.
Day 3: To Agra
Today you are off to Agra, the Mughal citadel. Once you arrive, you’ll check into your hotel and then have a delicious lunch. Afterwards, you’ll move to one of the wonders of the world, the magnificent Taj Mahal, a white marble mausoleum that is a shrine to the Queen Mumtaz Mahal, Emperor Shah Jahan’s deeply beloved wife.As your tour continues, you’ll explore the exquisite red sandstone Agra Fort, a walled city that contains mosques, palaces, and stadiums built in the 16th century. Drive through the humungous Delhi Gate towards the Golden Pavilions, and visit the lavish gardens and immense towers of the fort. You’ll feel like you’ve stepped back into Mughal history as you explore the numerous clandestine rooms of this once impenetrable structure.Your tour guide will escort you to Kohinoor Jewelers, where you will be able to see amazing ornaments and opulent artifacts that have been preserved for centuries by the specially appointed Kohinoor family, who were the jewelers of Mughal royalty.
Day 4: To Jaipur
Today you’ll be moving on to Jaipur, the capital city of the incredible desert state of Rajasthan. There you will explore ancient palaces and forts that in days past were host to regal gallantries and official events of the state.These days, the historic structures are living remnants that are used in the daily life of the city’s residents.
Day 5: Jaipur
You’ll have a thrilling morning riding an elephant throughout the natural plains of the Aravallis and enjoying a scrumptious royal breakfast “picnic style.” After your meal, you’ll move on to the historic capital of Amber, where you’ll visit the breathtaking Amber Fort located just beyond the Jaipur city limits. While at the fort, you’ll eat an elegant lunch as you take in the historic ambiance of the impressive structure. After eating, you’ll be able to visit some quaint shops, Gaze upon the opulent royal costumes that are housed within the museum, and later visit textile factories that produce block print fabrics adorned with royal motifs.
Day 6: Jodhpur
Time to say goodbye to Jaipur and move west towards the romantic city of Jodhpur. Jodhpur is known in the Rajasthan region for its ironic combination of serendipity and down-to-earth style. You’ll pass through the whimsical and vibrantly colorful bazaars, the glittering royal palaces and the arid sands of the unforgettable Thar Desert. In the evening you’ll arrive at your hotel, your home the next 2 days
Day 7: Jodhpur
Your day starts off with a trip to the enthralling Mehrangarh Fort, described by author Rudyard Kipling as having been created by fairies, angels and giants. At the fort museum, you will discover a comprehensive selection of historic paintings, weapons, and royal thrones. Next up, a fun exploration of the old city riding in “tuk-tuks” (three-wheeled auto rickshaws), where you’ll see talented puppet makers, creative local artists, and aromatic open-air spice markets.
Day 8: To Deogarh
After a delicious early breakfast, you’ll move on from Jodhpur, aka the “Blue City.” As you drive through the arid desert, you’ll stop to visit Ranakkpur Temple, which is one of the biggest and most significant temple complexes for the Jain religion in India. From there, you’ll continue on to Deogarh, the quaint village where you will be staying at the Deogarh Maha, a amazing fort for the next two nights.
Day 9: Deogarh
EYou’ll take an unforgettable ride in a vintage automobile to the regal palace of Deogarh Mahal, where its intricate mosaic designs will be explained to you by one of the royal family members (subject to availability.) After that spectacular drive, you’ll be escorted to the charming village for an afternoon of fun and exploration. For dinner, you’ll watch an interesting and informative cooking demonstration that will explain the hidden treasures of authentic Indian cuisine, after which you will feast on a delicious dinner fit for a king!
Day 10: To Udaipur
Your incredible journey through India continues as you make your way to Udaipur, an oasis in the middle of the Rajasthan Desert. Also known as the “Lake City,” Udaipur is nestled inside of the scenic Aravalli Hills. You’ll be enthralled as you view the many picturesque palaces that dot the landscape. When you arrive to the town, you’ll be escorted to your PALACE? hotel, where you can sit back, relax, and enjoy the spectacular view of the area surrounding the sparkling Lake Pichola. Later in afternoon, you’ll take an easy stroll through a key historic portion of the royal palace, and be able to peacefully soak in the quiet splendor.
Day 11: Udaipur
Today you will be invigorated by the awesome magnificence and radiance of the Royal House of Mewar. You’ll feel the charm of yesteryear as you stroll through the old city, and visit the extravagant City Palace, (a bastion of the Maharanas of Mewar). You’ll have time to explore the hectic and vibrant bazaars as you wind through the alleys and streets of the city. Later, you’ll visit a respected art gallery which houses an eclectic mix of tradition and modern art. In the evening, you’ll be our guest at a sumptuous goodbye feast with your fellow travelers (who have now become your new friends), on this trip.
Day 12: To Delhi
You’re off on a flight to Delhi where you will be greeted and transported to your hotel.
Day 13: Depart Delhi
You’ll enjoy your final hotel breakfast this morning, and then say a wistful goodbye to the unforgettable country of India. You’ll be driven to the airport where you will board your onward flight.
