Sail the beautiful Kerala backwaters, which are fringed with exotic plants and trees, and visit an Indian dance academy, which is steeped in tradition. Witness one of the aarti ceremonies at a sacred temple, and sample authentic Indian cooking at the home of a famous South Indian Chef, whilst taking time to breathe in the bustling cities of Madurai and Chennai, discovering historical sights along the way.
Day 1: Arrive Mumbai
You will arrive in the exciting city of Mumbai, where you will be greeted by our professional travel expert and transported to your luxury hotel to relax and recuperate after your long trip. Get a good night’s sleep, there is much more in store tomorrow!
Day 2: Mumbai
Discover the amazing history of the ancient city of Mumbai, and learn about the exciting new things happening in its present day environment. You’ll have an eye-opening view of the Dhobi Ghats which is world renowned as being the largest open-air laundry in India. Diligent workers work year round, delivering untold quantities of freshly washed clothing to venues all over the city. A bit later, you will find yourself strolling through the hectic Crawford Market, which is known not only as the most famous market in India, but also the first building in India to have electricity installed in 1882.
Day 3: Kerala
First, you’ll take an unforgettable cruise across the crystal clear waters of the bay to the UNESCO World Heritage site the Elephanta Caves. There, you’ll be able to enjoy some fine examples of Indian rock art. Later, you’ll fly to the sophisticated capital of Kochi where you will feast on Kerala cuisine and relax.
After a delicious breakfast you’ll have the amazing opportunity to visit the oldest operating synagogue Paradesi in the world and the Portuguese church of St. Francis. Later, you’ll move onto Mattancherry Palace, a beautiful architectural structure built by the Portuguese government for the King of Kochi. After an authentic lunch at a traditional local restaurant you’ll have the entire afternoon to explore this beautifully historic city. You’ll have no problem keeping busy at the multitude of shops, galleries and other interesting sites that you’ll be able to enjoy, and whenever you’re ready, you can go back to your hotel for some well-earned rest and relaxation.
Day 5: To Kumarakom
Today you’ll travel to Alleppey where you’ll take a trip on a traditional rice barge and discover the renowned backwaters of Kerala. You’ll experience the unique pace and culture of the steamy southern part of India as you explore the maze of canals, lagoons, streams and rivers in the area. After this picturesque day, you’ll travel to Kumarakom and check into your luxury hotel. Enjoy the rest of your day at Leisure
Day 6 : To Madurai
Today you’ll be driving through the green fields, quaint farms and refreshing countryside air as you head towards the exhilarating city of Madurai. You’ll pass by lovely rolling hills and fragrant palm plantations. When you get to Madurai, you’ll be able to leisurely relax at your hotel for the rest of the afternoon.
Day 7: Madurai
In Madurai you’ll visit one of the holiest sites of the Hindu religion in India, Sri Meenakshi Temple.There you will explore vibrant and colorful images of mythical icons, gods, goddesses and animals.In the evening you’ll witness the sacred “aarti” ceremony where you’ll be enchanted by the magical sights and echoing sounds that fill the walls of the temple. The privilege of attending this holy ceremony will surely be one of the most memorable experiences that you will have on your trip to India.
Day 8: To Chennai
Today you will take a flight to Chennai, a city full of sacred temples and other interesting landmarks and tourist sites. After checking in to your beautiful hotel, you’ll start your explorations at the first British military outpost in India, which has now been converted into the state government’s Secretariat.Later, you’ll go to the wondrous Kapaleshwar temple that honors Lord Shiva and boasts 13th century religious inscriptions.
Day 9: Chennai
Your day will start off by visiting a traditional south Indian dance school, then you’ll move onto Mahabalipuram, another temple city, and have a delicious lunch at a the popular resort by the sea.In the afternoon you’ll visit Dakshinachitra Heritage Center and have the opportunity to learn about the wide variety of cultures, folklore and traditions of Southern India. For the rest of your day, you can either relax and go for a refreshing swim in your hotel’s pool, or stay in town to continue enjoying the timeless city of Chennai.
Day 10: To Hyderabad
Today you will be able to spend exploring Hyderabad on your own and enjoy your opulent palace hotel
Day 11: Hyderabad
Take a tour of the dramatic city of Hyderabad where you will visit the remarkable Charminar Tower and Salajung Museum. In the evening stroll the famous bangle bazaar and enjoy the famous
Day 12: Depart Hyderabad
The end of an amazing journey, you’ll say goodbye to beautiful India, and be transported to the airport for your onward flight.
